Do I need plans drawn up before I can get a quote?
No. Our builders can give you a free quote without having plans drawn up.

Of course, it is in your interest to get plans drawn up. Without plans, each builder will have a different interpretation of what you require and your quotes may vary substantially.

Who can draw my plans?
Our builders can draw up basic plans (i.e. a simple extension).

For more complex plans (i.e. a new house), you should employ a draftsman, a designer or an architect.

• Draftsmen complete their training at TAFE and can draw up most residential plans.
• Designers and Architects complete their training at University and have skills in drafting as well as providing design concepts.

It is important at this stage to provide as much information as you can, including your budget, basic floor plans, sketches, magazine cut outs, brand names of all fittings, tiles, appliances, etc.

Who lodges the building application?
Our builders can lodge your building application (plans, etc) with council and obtain all the proper permits, etc.

You can choose to do this yourself, but the process is involved and can be difficult, so be careful before you commit yourself.

Should I choose my builder on price alone?
No. It is very important that you should feel confident with the builder. Ask to see photos of their past work and examine what is covered in the quote. Remember, the cheapest is not always the best.

How do I check if a builder is licensed?
You can check if your builder is licensed by using a free online service. http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/About_us/Online_services/Home_building_licence_check.html.

What sort of insurance do your builders have?
Our builders have extensive insurance cover, including:

What sort of contract do you use?
Our builders use plain English contracts provided by the Department of Fair Trading, for all building and renovation work.
